I'm grateful for each new day, however, I'm experiencing absolutely horrendous nightmares which are so increadibly real, I can't even begin to explain. In addition, I'm on Seroquel for sleep (500mg's), and am unable to wake up, even as I feel my body writhing and shaking in terror.

Are these post-traumatic stress symptoms?-(my four years in college were spent in my dorm room in bed, increadibly depressed and terrified of people. I wasn't eating, sleeping, etc. Basically not functioning, and suffering terribly every day for four years).

(I've taken monster doses of tricyclics, ssri's, and maoi's before and didn't have many bad side effects to speak of, so I am tolerant of high doses).

I would try Remeron or dirt cheap Doxepin. Taking Seroquel is a bit excessive just for sleep.
