Hi
I would imagine that those closest to you already know that something is amiss. Especially if you have not been yourself. In my own situation, I have chosen to tell only my very closest friends. A strong support system is so helpful and not everyone gets to experience good support. I have chosen not to say anything to my "not so close" friends for various reasons.
It took some doing for me to feel that I shouldn't care if my friends (or family for that matter) looked at me differently. In fact, like I said, I SHOULDN'T care - and that's what I know. I just guess it is a bit harder to apply in practice. Don't ever be embarrassed. You are not doing anything wrong --- you have an illness / disorder that is shared by so many but that is quite unique to you. You are not abnormal, you are just reaching out and getting help and this takes strength.
I trust that if your friends are good friends, they will support you and see you for who you really are and not see your disorder.
I wish you well - keep us posted on your decision.
Regards
Sabrina
