Melanie:

First of all, I just want to say that upsets me that someone would call and do that to you. I mean, I guess I can just totally empathize because stuff like that has happened to me (crank calls, people be "mean" to me for no reason) and I just think: Why, why, why does this have to happen? Also, well, anyway, have you ever tried the approach that Jeffrey Schwartz recommends in his book "Brain Lock?" I have it posted above my computer, because that's where I work. I'll write it down for you here. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes not. Depends on how bad the panic/anxiety is. The approach, you say these things to yourself in your head:

1) Relable = "It's not me, it's just my OCD."
2) Reattribute = "It keeps bothering me because I have a medical condition; a chemical imbalance."
* Accept = It's not because of me, but despite me."
3) Refocus = Refocus my attention to another behavior, preferably something positive.
4) Revalue = "It's just a senseless obsession. It's a false message. I can ignore it."

Sorry if you've heard this before. I guess at the least, I can totally empathize with your obsessive ruminations and anxiety. I hate it too!

Good luck,
Chris

> I fixate on the stupidest things. I don't know how to get my mind off of these things. Today it was somebody crank calling me at work asking if i was alone and stuff. It through me right in to an anxiety attack. I always fixate on things and can't make them go away! HELP!!! anybody have anything they do that helps them?
