Meg, hi. Do you have an iron deficiency? When I was on Celexa, my periods were heavier than usual. That could certainly cause anemia. I also had some other menstrual problems that I didn't have before or after I took Celexa. I assumed that Celexa caused the problem. I know that ssri's in general, and Zoloft in particular, can cause GI bleeding. SSRI's are often contraindicated in patients who are on anticoagulants. I know of two people who had massive GI bleeds when they were prescribed anticoagulants and Zoloft after having a stroke. If you are concerned or have symptoms, I think it's best to have periodic testing for iron, hemoglobin, ferritin, etc. If you are anemic, then it's best to get to the root of the cause and not necessarily assume it's the Celexa.
