Hi Scott,
Thanks for responding, I've been pretty much in the same boat as you for the last 4 years, trying lots of different antidepressants with lots of awful side effects (mainly anxiety) and very little success, all the time managing to stay at work. I started taking Seroxat again (higher dose) after a brief try of Nardil and it seemed to work a bit but recently it's stopped working.
I've just been made redundant and have very little motivation to even look for a job infact the fact that I've been made redundant doesn't even bother me it's this damn depression coming back that does.
Anyway, now I'm off work I guess it's an ideal time to have ECT.
I spoke to a new psychiatrist and she was actually willing to let me try it, I told her that if I was going to have it I want to know that I'm in good hands. She told me the hospital in her area was very good. Problem is now that my medical insurance runs out August 22nd due to my job running out and I was seeing her privately as she is not in my catchment area and neither is the hospital she recommended. I'm not sure if the NHS (I'm in the UK) will cover me outside my catchment area so I'm going to have to look into that.
Also being in the UK you can't get maintenance treatment so even in the event that the ECT does help me I don't know what I'm going to do after that.
Kind Regards........Denise
