hey! Stimulants can help with depression, sometimes anxiety and mood-lability...alone, they can be tricky, but if they're combined with other meds, the side-effects can be minimized and the benefits can be maximized. That said...I think you should maybe talk to your doc about setting up some kind of supervised use of stimulants with an MAOI, even if it is just caffeine. Stimulants can be added to MAIOs or, in even more hardcore combos, you can add a stimulant to an MAOI-TCA combo. Since caffeine works for you, just see if can set up a regular dosing schedule with your doc, complete with dosage, etc....that will make it easier to monitor side effects and effectiveness, and adjust anything that needs calibrating. Plus, since caffeine tolerance builds pretty quickly--trust me, I'm a java-junky-- having your doctor involved will make it more likely that he/she will supplement and/or replace the caffeine with another stimulant, should the need arise. Ritalin and Adderall/Dexedrine are the classic stimulant augmentation agents, but Provigil could be really helpful, too...assuming your insurance will cover it. Congratulations on your discovery, and good luck to you!
