Yes, Lyrica is a newly approved med. Though it's not specifically approved for anxiety, there have been studies showing how affective it is along with anti depressant properties. They are working on approval for GAD at this time. My doctor who is an anxiety expert, drug researcher etc. told me 6 months ago that it was coming out and that it may be my answer to elevate my mood while handling the anxiety. NO anti depressants ever worked and klonopin got me 70% there, but trying to get off it has been just about impossible for me. So far I'm feeling better than ever and I'm just about a week away from being totally off klonopin and just on Lyrica. Only side affects are positive, elevated mood and better sleep. My doc is really "high" on the potential for this med with anxiety disorters. Plus, not being a benzo (thought it works on GABA), the withdrawl problems should be much better. For those looking for a way out of the same old benzo buzz feeling with improved mood, this could be the ticket. Just do a web search on "lyrica and anxiety" and you can get info....
