I think pdocs don't like to prescribe benzos for exactly the type of scenario you have described. You have become dependant on it. Your body has. If you run out you are at risk of having a seizure.
Keep in mind this is coming from someone who was taking 4 mg of Klonopin a night. I am now down to 3.25 and it has been hard. Many, many nights of not sleeping. I have the pills if I want to take more than 3.25, but unless I feel like I am going to seizure, I don't. I haven't. I won't.
I think that if you startled in the night (in a strange house & bed) and get really anxious that learning some techniques to reduce that anxiety without pills would be of greater benefit than taking more valium. I know it's not something that will happen overnight, but you should start. Learn to meditate. Take a yoga class. Try self-hypnosis. Find a new way to deal with your startle response. It can be done. I know you can do it.

> Hi CK. No I found out today she's not a pushover. She only gave me 30pills of valium til I find a pdoc in Charlotte. And I take l5mg a day. And right now the stress is intolerable. Why do pdocs worry so much about tolerance and addiction? If it wasn't for the first one I saw I never would be on valium. What does she think I'm going to do? Open the phonebook and pick anyone? And I've never abused the valium bofore. But if you're sleeping in a stange house and a dog busts into your bedroom at 3am and leaps on the bed. I think I was justified in taking more valium to go back to sleep. Love your friend, PJ/Jan
