Anytime, Starfox - I'm glad to offer my experience to help a fellow babbler.
Paulbwell, tell Starfox why he/she should avoid antipsychotics (APs). You owe him/her that one. :-)
1) I suggest doing your own research online with these questions in mind, and decide for yourself if a low dose of Seroquel may offer relief from the hell of insomnia. Otherwise, talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of using an antipsychotic (AP) to treat sleep disorders. That's their job!
2) Seconal, certainly an effective barbiturate, is actually a Schedule II controlled substance. Other Schedule II agents are Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine, morphine sulfate, methamphetamine, and OxyContin, among others. Paraphrasing one of Starfox's quotes: "I'm interested in benzos but scared that I may become addicted to them and develop tolerance issues, ect." Benzodiazepines are generally considered safer and equally effecacious compared to the older barbiturates. The non-benzodiazepines (Lunesta, Ambien, AmbienCR, Sonata, *Rozerem) are the best of the bunch in terms of low abuse potential and low potential for addiction.
* Rozerem, a benign melatonin agonist, is the newest FDA-approved drug used to treat insomnia.
Remember, what worked for Grans may not work for you. Still, you have nothing to lose by asking your doctor about Seconal.
Wow, time slips away from you when you're squandering (or babbling) the night away. So, gotta hit the sack. Hopefully, this post is coherent. I took two AmbienCR tablets about 45min ago (silly me).
Take care everyone... &:-?
