I tired Neurontin for several weeks and all I got was recurrent oral thrush. Effexor worked GREAT for my nerve pain for 2+ years before it pooped out. My current med for it is tramadol with robaxin as needed. I am also getting the facet joint injections in my lumbar spine for nerve pain every 12 weeks. Right before the injections and for several days after them I have to take morphine for the pain, along with many stool softeners to combat the effect morphine has on my digestive system. Nothing has appeared in my MRI and CT scan indicative of back surgery, but I still think I'm headed that directed if I don't get a medically necessary breast-reduction and tummy tuck. I had 4 children between 1998 and 2003 and I think the PGs took their toll on my body!
Morphine is great if you can tolerate the side effects.
Good luck,
Colleen
