It's worth a try. I never got any benefit from it at all. Even bright summertime light doesn't help me.
I grow a wide variety of exotic plants in my living room. They get their light from a 400 watt full spectrum metal halide lamp and a 175 watt metal halide. These are the same bright white lights you see in WalMart parking lots. I can sit inches away from them for half an hour a day and it doesn't do squat. Neither do the flourescent therapy lamps which are far weaker in terms of spectrum and intensity.
I figure if the July sun can't do it, a flourescent doesn't stand a chance. If you think there is a pattern to your moods where you feel better in the summer and worse in the winter, then maybe light therapy could help. Will it bring remission or anything close? I doubt it. But to be sure, check remedyfind.com to see what other users have reported.
