It says he took 32 pills which were meant for aiding detox from alcohol. But this was in 1978. I wouldn't think 32 pills of your average valium would be fatal, unless mixed with other things, like large quantities of alcohol, or GHB perhaps. Or was it GHB (available in pill form then? - perhaps not)? As usual, the press probably told only half the story as seen from a particular perspective
