I've taken both. My dx's are major depression, generalized anxiety, anorexia nervosa, possible OCD, and {ahem} "obsessive compulsive personality traits." So, yeah, depression, anxiety, etc.

I'm considered to have chronic, treatment-resistant depression, and I have had some pretty wild reactions to drugs, so I'm not the best possible model of how treatment will affect you.

Wellbutrin won't help your anxiety, and could possibly make it worse. It's supposed to be somewhat helpful for some people with ADD, but I don't know much about that. Otherwise, I like it. It's much better for me than the SSRIs, which often leave me apathetic. Again, though -- it may actually worsen the anxiety.

Cymbalta is an SNRI, and it's a good drug. I had few side effects on it, and basically liked it -- except for the one side effect that I am way too sensitive to on any sort of SRI: apathy/amotivation. Again -- I'm not typical. If you can take Lexapro, Cymbalta may be like a SuperLex for you. Since it hits two systems at once, it's more likely to be a pretty good balance for you.

I guess I'm not so subtle, huh? I really like Cymbalta, and am still a bit disappointed that it was such a problem for me. It's well worth trying.

Hope that helps.
