> haha thanks for your reply-- i've been anxious now for 2 years-- i tapered off till i took one granuale. the moment i stopped 1 granuale-- brain zaps and everything. That went away, but anxiety never did. I didn't have anxiety at all before, though I could have developed it.
Sorry to hear about the angst. I know it's bloody awful. Why are we wired so as to experience such crap emotions escapes me.....
One granule? Really? I was talking to a local pharmacist last week about filling up capsules with the bulk powder modafinil I have ordered. We got to talking about particle texture & how he could know that he mixed the active with the filler well enough to ensure that the active got evenly distributed in each capsule.
He really knew his stuff. Sometimes he dyes the active & does the mix visually. Sometimes he has to experiment with finding a filler with the same texture as the active. He was a real "compounding pharmacist" and cool to talk to.
Anyway, he said that he was confident that his processes were accurate to within +/- 5%. Then he told me that not many people know that a lot of name brand drug companies only guarantee their tabs / capsules to be +/- 20%. I thought that was shocking...!
If he's right, then tapering down anything by breaking apart caps or tabs to take just 20% of the original cap / tab is mathematically a waste of time. If he's right, then the more you try to fractionate the original tab, the higher your chances of taking a dose that's way off what you think it is.
That would certainly help explain why some people have a hell of a time self tapering by breaking apart set dose meds. Hmm.......
