Well I wish you the best on a trial -- I mean, its conceivable that peak plasma levels might be different, but generally if you're getting the same side effect with a substance, you'll get the same side effect with it in another format. There are some exceptions, sour stomach with dissolvable formats, lessening of risk of seizures with extended release Wellbutrin, less possibility of hypertensive crisis with -only- the lowest form of the EMSAM patch vs. selegeline.
On the other hand, if you've gotten angioedema or rashes with the clonidine patch, you can't take the pill form again or you may risk serious angioedema.
As for the tachycardia, how exactly are you or your doctors defining it? I mean, some medications, noradrenergic effects can be uncomfortable at 90-100bpm, but they're not life threatening and side effects can be mitigated with occasional use of beta blockers.
You're only going into tachycardia >150-160bpm or even more in older individuals I believe, and if that is happening, covering up a serious medical condition as opposed to rapid pulse is not the best idea.
I still don't see how by this point Lamictal would have anything to do with your current level of psychosis, but I suppose anything is possible.--best wishes
