You know, not many posts get me going, but this one has. "Armchair p/docs"? I'll hazard a guess that there are at least a few regular posters here who can carry on a conversation about just about any medication and its physiological operation with any pdoc around.

Second, I don't see many "magic beans." I see a small group (in relation to the millions out there) who are, for the most part, treatment resistant using normal modalities, and are doing their best to make themselves aware of any unexplored options that might make them better.

Third, all those "stable" people out there? Don't bet your life on it. I know, right now, just in my workplace, and just on my floor, 4 people on various ADs. They've each been on the same ADs for years (2 get them from their GPs because they are afraid of the stigma of seeing a pdoc), and guess what? They are about as stable as spinning tops, but they won't do anything about it because they don't recognize their problems. They just pop the same ineffective pills and take days off to "decompress" because obviously work's so bad that even their ADs can't compensate. Never occurs to them that they need to go back to work on different or stronger meds.

So no, I don't buy this "armchair" speculation about all the "stable" folks out there (and I haven't even touched on the numerous people who clearly need help but refuse treatment expressly because it's "for weaklings" or "nutcases" or "anyone who sees a pdoc is crazy").

I've learned a lot at this site, and I try to contribute when I can. Want to know precisely what taking Saphris is like? You won't find it anywhere else on the net right now because it's so new, but you can read my post about the horrible experience and judge for yourself.

No one has to hang out here. Everyone's free to pop in and out for info once in awhile. People utilize this resource in the way they are most comfortable. I see nothing wrong with that.

> I just gotta ask, does anyone else ever question the recommendations offered by some of the members here? I mean, if they have all the answers, what the hell are they living their lives at this site for?? Post after post on Nardil, Parnate, Ensam the same meds and the same augmentation strategies. Ask yourself, if they really are effective at treating depression, what the hell are we all doing here? We should be out living our lives to the fullest cause we are stable, just not so. Ever wonder what meds all those stable folks are taking?? I do. I wish some of them would show up here and share their success rather than the same old posts containing desperation and such..... you go parnate.....
