In reply to Why is Marplan overlooked as an MAOi -Experiences?, posted by JayBTV2 on January 1, 2010, at 23:06:48
Heres the maoi low down.Google has a new feature to search news articles in history.
So i read one about maois.Sometime in the 60`s,shortly after the realease, people started to die,and after evalution it was found the maois were to blame with food interactions.
All were quickly pulled of the market comptly.Luckly a few years later they were re interoduced,HOWEVER not willing so,they realesed as a LAST OPTION plan, they were to be used only as a last resort and even then so used under docs direct supervision.
The main two re relaesed were parnate and nardil.Which is why u hear mostly about them. Were actualy lucky were given maois, after reading that we came close ,very close to never have seeing maois.
But this is where the neglect to use them stems from.
Marplan wasnt one of the mainstream ones to be re released, and ill tell you personaly unless u have a willing doc,um it will BE HARD to get it.
If i remeber correctly, paper had to be sent to my doc,a lot for a doc to fill out,my doc then had to make a call,my pharmacy had to set up what thay call a drop shipment.
So because of the enourmous hurdles its prob very unlikly a common p doc will go through this for a drug that was already removed of the market.
