This should serve as a warning to ANYONE who thinks that benzodiazepines could possibly be the "answer". They are the PROBLEM, folks. I speak from experience also....
30+ years of xanax first 3mg. which is equivalent to SIXTY milligrams of valium!
Ativan 1mg. is equivalent to at least 10mg. of valium. I tried to get off xanax altogether several years ago and found that switching to valium slowly, step by step and reducing xanax according to the ASHTON method, made me feel worse than I have ever felt in my life.......my psychiatrist whom I went to to get off xanax, finally saw the amount of suffering I was going through and took me off valium (horrible stuff for me)and put me back to xanax l.5mg. (one-half the dose I had been on).
And I have been on it ever since. PLEASE do not take benzos unless you are ready to accept the consequences....addiction, yes folks call it what it is. try to go off is worse than heroin withdrawal. Google xanax or heroin which is worse to withdraw or similar and you will see. benzos are the last resort and should be a very temporary thing. I beg anyone to really think before taking any benzo. They are poison in my opinion.
