Can Risperidone cause insomnia?

Something very unusual happened. I usually have no trouble at all staying asleep. I usually choose to sleep in whenever I can. Normal for me is oversleeping and not waking up in the morning.

Last night I got really upset and I took an extra 0.5 mg risperidone with the hopes that it would calm me down. I also took 40 mg propranolol, also in an effort to calm myself down. I went to bed at around 3 AM, but I woke up at 6 AM and couldn't sleep.

I usually only take 0.75 mg risperidone and I've always blamed my excessive sleeping on it, but why did the extra risperidone give me insomnia?

Has this happened to anyone else?
