Seroquel XR and difficulty falling asleep

Posted by Sara Quill on January 27, 2011, at 15:26:54

I'm currently on 400mg of seroquel XR (along with lamictal, nardil, namenda, and klonopin), and overall I find it much better than the original, immediate release form, since I feel like there's a more even amount in my system, and I don't have to nap during the day.

However, I have to take it earlier at night (8pm as opposed to 9 or 10pm), since it takes longer for the concentration to reach a slight peak at night. Despite taking it earlier, I still don't get as tired at night as I did w/the immediate release, so I have difficulty winding down, my mind still active and racing, when at least the immediate release knocked me out at night.

Does anyone else have a problem with this? Have you found anything that helps, such as taking a low dose of the immediate release later at night, an hour or 2 after taking the extended release form?

Thanks!
