Anyone that reads any of my previous posts knows that I have been living with chronic insomnia for a long time - I have been through so many different types of medications and treatment modalities that I thought it appropriate to start a website for chronic insomnia sufferers that is separate from sleepnet.com - perhaps a site that has a primary focus on chronic insomnia and its medication-based treatments. I need to think of a good non-profit domain name and get a group of fellow sufferers to join me in this effort. Anyone that has to live with the frustrations of this disorder knows how crippling it is to every aspect of life and how hard it is to find the proper treatment from any professional who is willing to listen and understand. This is just an initial proposal to see what people think of the idea.
I have been living with chronic insomnia for the past 10 years and have been on a majority of the medications that are on the market in addition to more exotic and hard-to-get treatments along with combinations of treatments - this is a global problem which hasn't been taken seriously enough and it deserves just as much attention and support as depression/bi-polar disorder/etc. For me personally, I know this to be a biological problem and not a lifestyle one. One of the catalysts for this idea was reading the book 'Insomniac' by Gayle Greene which directly mirrors my experiences with chronic insomnia. Please sound off below.
