As I recall, you were on high dose atypical antipsychotics before. If I had to choose low-to-moderate dose Benzo or full dose atypical, I'd take the benzo.
Klonopin helps anxiety, agitation; in some people, it helps calm mania and psychosis, usually combined with other drugs. I would worry a bit about drug-induced depression/worsening of depression. Long-term use can be tricky. 6 months in to round #1 of my benzo use, I started waking up with panic attakcs. I didn't know it then, but it was probably a mix of being on 2mgs/day klonopin for too long and also the sedative (sonata or ambien) wearing off in the AM.
I'd personally think xanax xr would be easier and more effective for your symptoms, but I'm clearly not an expert.
