Nortriptyline, Buspar, Serotonin

Posted by schleprock on August 29, 2012, at 20:20:19

From what I can tell, Buspar seems to promote some kind of serotonic activity (while nortriptyline barely does anything for serotonin.) I'm wondering how effective the two meds together might be in treating endogenous depression. Would I be getting my hopes to high if I expected the combo could boost (or block reuptake or whatever.) serotonin to an efficacy on the level of clomipramine, or even an SSI? And are there any other non-SSRI, NSRI, etc. compound that can enhance serotonin with minimal SE. Or am I totally misunderstanding the mechanism.

I'm scared of supplements.
