Naltrexone, at 50 mg, is used to treat addictions. Low dose naltrexone, which has a maximum dose of 4.5 mg, is used to treat some forms of cancer and some autoimmune disorders, and some people use it for depression and anxiety. The low dose of naltrexone briefly blocks brain endorphins, which causes the pituitary gland to produce more endorphins, so LDN actually increases the amount of opioids in the body.
