I know Phillipa... The only ones benzo who interact with the Luvox are the Valium and the Xanax...
I don't like the Ativan, I find it useless for the anxiety... It's only good before surgery cause of the more pronounced amnesia effect but it don't reduce my anxiety...
For the clonazepam no interraction with the Luvox. My Doc search very carefully in his books and it's not in the list... So no problem here for me...
Anyway Phillipa, the interraction with the benzo and Luvox only mean higher blood level of benzo so take less to work and I don't see this interaction as a bad one, unless you take huge amount of Xanax or Valium who can lead to breathing problems but I'm talking about very high dose and not the usual dose use for the anxiety...
Also some beta blocker interact with the Luvox, the propranolol and the metoprolol (lopressor) are both increase in the blood but they recommend to reduce the dose of propranolol and see how the Luvox increase it, same for the lopressor...
Since I'm going to start the bisoprolol, I will not have to worry about that...
If I find some times to go to the pharmacy soon, I will ask my pharmacist to cut the pills in 10 pieces... just don't want to start it at 25 mg and have bad side effects who lead to stop the Luvox after taking only 1 dose... The goal is to go very slowly and 5 mg to start is ok for me...
50 mg of Luvox is about the same as 20 mg of Paxil... If I react to 1 mg of Paxil that mean that the 5 mg dose of Luvox will equal 2 mg of Paxil... I'm so tired of that anxiety that I think 5 mg will not kill me... All I wish is that I will not have an attack of supraventricular tachycardia like when I did try to take the lexapro again at 2.5 mg and had to go to the ER because of the very fast heart rate... That's what I fear the most... But the lexapro is very powerful so I guess that the 5 mg of Luvox will barely touch the serotonin receptors... Just to play safe I will start it a day when I know I will not be alone at home...
