Nardil start up effects...

Posted by uncouth on March 27, 2014, at 13:45:32

Wow, lots of Nardil threads recently!

I'll add to it. I Just started Nardil a few days ago, for social phobia and mood. I am replacing a number of drugs (amisulpride, buspirone, vyvanse) with it, so I am excited. But scared. Vyvanse is what helped me focus and get motivated and get the UMPH to move forward in my life. In the end though I was having terrible crash in mid afternoon and Vyvanse dosing was always real tricky, too low and felt nothing, too high, overfocused on wrong things, not getting work done. And amisulpride pooped out for mood and social anxiety.

In any event, I have been on Nardil, Parnate, and emsam before. I am BP2. Last time I was on MAOIs was a time of deep non-functioning depression, so it is hard to compare to now when things are much better.

I am struggling with some effects though, which also may be due to the vyvanse withdrawal. My mood is OK, i feel maybe a very slight boost and definite chill-out effect due to its effects on GABA so far. I am only at 45mg though. I am 225lbs male 33 years old, and guessing I will probably need to go up a lot higher.

How fast should one typically increase. So far feeling fatigued and brain fogged and very demotivated. I am hopeful at some point the stimulating effects of MAOI will kick in, but so far not much. Does nardil have to kill off all the MAOI in the gut first before it hits the brain?

Anything possible to help with the fatigue I can take on top of it? Mostly worried about being too fogged up, but presumably this will clear in time.

Really worreid though about weight gain. Has anyone ever experienced Nardil to NOT cause it? Is it mostly metabolic and real or simply water weight? I have heard both. I can't recall what happened the last time I was on it to be honest, but I do know I switched to Parnate and didnt eally give it a full trial, presumably due to side effects.

So far, lots of time on the couch, and minimal productivity or motivation. Incidentally, my food is tasting VERY salty. Is that a sign of salt retention/edema and i wonder what one could do to counteract? What's a good diuretic, dandelion?

Sorry for the sprawling long winded post.

Oh also, my Dr. has a funny idea about adding disulfiram to Nardil at some point, as a tool to boost dopamine (instead of say a stimulant). Anyone ever heard of this combo (MAOI plus disulfiram)?

Thanks all
