I posted a couple of years ago when I was taking Parnare and Ritalin together. While the combo did alleviate my depression, it did little for my anxiety. It's a conundrum since like you I have treatment resistant depression which is driven largely by anxiety and phobias. Parnate did seem to give me a slightly euphoric reaction which I think wasn't always the best thing for me- I ended up slightly over manic and overwhelmed...and in need of benzo's. For depression and anxiety Nardil was actually much more effective. I got spooked by the weight gain, although ultimately gained even more weight with Parnate. I also had a lot of panic attacks when I took Ritalin and Parnate as well, probably because they are both considered to be activating.

Not to discourage you on what you are searching for. It may help you, but doctors don't like to prescribe them. My doctor was at the time out of the Mass General in Boston. I actually had an adverse reaction and it was pretty scary. I had some cheese or something and it hit immediately. After that I stayed on it for a bit but I think he was a bit freaked out. I still see him but we both decided to discontinue it, not because of the reaction but because of water retention and major weight gain. Now a cocktail of Prozac and Adderall works pretty well. I don't know if you take a stimulant now, but I have to say that they are powerful as antidepressants. It's controversial but when anxiety is so bad that you're paralyzed from experiencing life, then it's worth it. So if you can't get a doctor to prescribe the MAOI combo, maybe a low dose SSRI with a stimulant will help almost as well. I wish you luck, since Im locates in Boston and may have one of the few psychiatrists who would prescribe these meds and I don't even know if he still does with other patients.
