African Americans and psychiatry

After 30+ years of seeing psychiatrists, I can't recall seeing a black person in a waiting room. I'm sure that my memory isn't the greatest and there have been some but it's hardly a regular occurrence. My doctors have all been in San Antonio or Austin..urban areas.
I have seen more black celebs, entertainers, athletes etc coming out as having a mental illness which I think is sorely needed.
Anyone have a comment on this? What's your experience?
