Stimulants (Ritalin) against TRD?

Posted by topdog on October 13, 2015, at 12:52:51

Hi!

Any experience on how well stimulants, especially Ritalin work against depression in long term in case main line drugs does not work(except the MAOI's)? How would you compare taking a MAOI like Nardil or being on a stimulant like Ritalin? Do the stimulants always crash in the evenings leaving you feeling anxious and drained?

I'm off Nardil for over a month now because it stopped working. Based on my long term experience with the drug i know 1 month is enough to reverse the tolerance and if restarted it'll work again for another year at least.

For over a month now the emotional pain of depression and anxiety has been high above the critical level of human tolerance so i'm going back on Nardil immediately to avoid self-destruction. My second option would be to try a stimulant (which i'v never tried before) if my doctor is willing to prescribe it in the first place of course.

Just for the information, Brintellix didn't work for me, tried it for 6 weeks after stopping nardil.

I'm considering the switch because of the side-effects of Nardil: weight-gain, nightmares, parasomnia, excessive sweating to name a few.

Any long-term experiences with stimulants against TRD?

Tnx!
