I've always started with 25. Also before the drug was generic the sample starter kits the pharm co gave out started at 25mg.
Starting at 12.5 would def be conservative. IMHO thatd be the way to go if you tried titrating previously w 25, to 50, to 100 but had a potential rash. Usually if you get a (or the) rash and you stop and retey the medication later titrating slower you will be OK.
Trust you doc though if he/she wants to go 12.5 first....
