Don't take it on an empty stomach. You have high stomach acidity, and you're breaking down the taurine. At least, eat a cookie. Better yet, some protein. If you're irritated enought to take some, you probably need some food, already.
Sulfhydryl chemical groups, like those found on taurine, stink really bad, if they get into a volatile state. If the molecule gets crunched, and volatile pieces break off. Sulhydryls are what make cabbage or egg f*rts stink, and what a make a skunk stunk.
