Blueberries and hippocampal regeneration

Posted by sregan on October 27, 2006, at 21:44:32

I was reading an old post where Linkadge said he got relief from depression from Blueberries

"I got relief from depression from blueberry extract. The anthocyannins in blueberries are powerfull promoters of hippocampal neurogenesis. They also release dopamine, and are powerful antiinflamintories."

I've been eating them for three days and feeling pretty good. Some of the latest thinking on Fibromyalgia is that its a dopamine deficiency. Most are in agreement that CFS, FMS and perhaps several types of depression/anxiety disorder are due to HPA issues because of the hippocampus. If that is the case than the berries: Blue, straw, bil and elder could be part of the cure. They are all high in anthocyanins. Studies showed rats fed blueberries showed hippcampal regeneration. The blueberry is considered by many as the most potent of the "superfoods".

Anybody else have any luck with them?

Shawn
