My depression got worse from magnesium supplements. It caused apathy/lethargy, hypotension, postural hypotension, insomnia, confusion, acne... you name it.

Magnesium is an inhibitor of CNS. Initially this will be perceived as relaxation, but if the inhibition goes to far it will cause fatigue.

I have tried several different types of magnesium and they all have the same effect on me.

If magnesium is used it should be supplemented with calcium since they are considered as antagonists. Commonly suggested supplemental intake ratio is 2:1 for calcium and magnesium; this ratio will provide equal amount of ions from calcium and magnesium.
