If you are taking it to abort a panic attack then I've read it takes about 15 mins to be effective. However panic attacks usually stop after that amount of time anyway.

"The suggested dosage during a panic attack is 2 grams of glycine dissolved sublingually (under the tongue), repeated as necessary every few minutes. This method may cause the panic attack to subside within 10 to 15 minutes. Dr. David Williams suggests taking no more than 20 grams during such an attack, as more may cause nausea and stomach ache."

Those are the two 'best' pages I've found on the net regarding Glycine and it's effect on anxiety. At least in lay mans terms. There are other sites which offer more information as long as you can decipher the scientific prose.
