Hi. I am adding two new supplements to my vitamin regimen for schizophrenia. First, I've been doing research on antioxidants for schizophrenia. Vitamins C and E are helpful for me, but something was still lacking, so I added Alpha Lipoic Acid. It has a subtle effect, but I noticed that my socialization is improved after taking it for a week and a half. Hopefully, it will continue to get better. It is definitely worth trying. Next, I went out and purchased some L-carnosine today. My reasoning for L-carnosine is that it is used for autism spectrum disorders. I read that autism and schizophrenia have many parallels in symptoms. So I said what the heck! Give it a try. It may take several weeks to see any benefits, but I am patient. It has also been used for Alzheimer's with good results. Mainly it helps with language and memory tasks, etc. But it is proposed that it may also help with other symptoms secondarily, such as negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Someone is studying it on schizophrenics right now, and I am very interested to know the results. Today, it doesn't appear to do anything obvious, but I understand that it will take a while. Perhaps socialization will improve. That is my biggest hurdle. I tend to be a little cautious trying different supplements, but I have had good results with antioxidants, and carnosine is also a powerful antioxidant with anti-aging properties. I'm hopeful that I will benefit to some degree.
