I gave L-carnosine a two-day trial, and honestly, I just don't like the side effects, one of which was insomnia. I don't think it would benefit me a whole lot. My reasoning is that it is a dipeptide composed of alanine and histidine. Histidine is the amino acid that converts to histamine in the body. I am already a high histamine person. That may complicate things. Besides, I've never done well on amino acids, except for glycine and tyrosine. Now, however, after the psychosis, glycine made me worse and tyrosine did nothing at all. So I've pretty much given up on amino acids. If you want to try a good antioxidant instead of l-carnosine, try Lipoic Acid. I've had good results with that supplement.
