I have some interesting comments. You may be aware, maybe not, so thought I would share.

To begin, it is my belief that many cases of depression, schizophrenia, and anxiety, are biochemically based in mercury accumulation, lead accumulation, systemic fungal overgrowth, and bacterial infections. Well to be honest, it isn't just my belief. There are dozens of books written on the topic, doctors that practice healing from this viewpoint, and literally thousands of stories from patients how they were healed from this viewpoint.

All of the above (metals, organisms) harbor each other and work in syngery. Where there is mercury, there is also usually fungi and bacteria, due to the weakened immune system, and the predictable psychiatric symptoms from the systemic toxicity of their wastes. Organisms actually use the metals to protect themselves and hide.

So where am I going with all of this?

ALA happens to be one of only two substances on the planet that can not just chelate heavy metals, but transport them out of the brain. All other chelators do not cross the bloodbrain barrier, or do so very weakly. ALA crosses the bloodbrain barrier easily and takes the metals with it.

ALA is also removing heavy metals from clogged thyroid receptors, adrenal receptors, fatty tissues, and all of their favorite permanent homes. Permanent that is, until ALA comes along.

So maybe your improvement has something to do with moving metals? And likewise as a result, opening up receptors, opening up glands, and diminishing infectious burdens?

It all probably sounds greek to most people. Seriously though, this is a very likely scenario to what you are experiencing. If so, in a year or two, that's how long it takes to totally clean out, you should be a new person.

> I've been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for about two weeks now in addition to my other vitamins and I've had some surprising results. For one, I tend not to obsess over little things. My daily hygiene practices are improved, and my socialization is better, i.e. making more eye contact and smiling. I started off with 50mg per day and worked up to 100mg. I'm feeling 100mg might be too much because of the energy. If you want more energy, take 100mg per day. It supposedly improves mitochondrial function. I can't seem to take more than 100mg per day. It is a very powerful antioxidant, as it recycles vitamin E, C, and glutathione. Antioxidants are very important for bipolar and schizophrenia due to oxidative stress. It is a great supplement to add to your vitamin regimen! It is subtle, but it is helpful.
