Orthomolecular medicine (Using basic nutrients that the body uses all the time) has worked for me and is a very powerful tool to healing the body. There are many books on the subject, using basic vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids for healing. You might check that out. You'd have to have access to vitamin companies that sell quality products. I am not saying that medications don't do some good. The RIGHT medications can help you, but if you don't have the raw materials (vitamins, minerals, etc) your body may not respond to the medications as efficiently. There are some good books out there about Orthomolecular medicine and a lot of websites too. It's best to work with a naturopathic doctor who can help you with your individual needs. I did it on my own, and it took way too long to get it right. Working with someone who knows what they're doing can speed up the process. Doctors typically don't tell you about using nutrients to heal the body, but it is a very powerful tool. There are other therapies that also might help, like hypnosis, accupuncture, cognitive therapy, emotional freedom technique (EFT). I am not sure about detoxing. That might help if you have issues with heavy metal poisoning, which some people have. Also, getting a complete physical by your physician will help rule out other physical causes of your depression, such as thyroid problems, adrenal gland problems, digestive issues, anemia, etc.
