I have to agree to with the response below. There are other mood stabiliser that are weight neutral. Have you tried Trileptal?
I remember I was so HAPPY to be prescribed Topomax (Bipolar type 2). But I went psychotic on it and so that was the end of it. I am tempted to try it again, but it also gave me terrible acne.
What dosage are you taking?
I believe the psychosis was from increasing the dosage too quickly.
You should be proud that you were able to achieve recovery. How did you reach that point? What was most helpful? What is your history with eating disoders?
Again, I am very impressed that you were able to recover. I hope you are proud of yourself as well.

I have been taken off of the topomax, but the anorexia hasn’t gone away. It was easy to lose weight while on the Topamax since it destroyed my appetite. I’m now on paxil which requires a lot more will power to loose weight. Perhaps that is why my pdoc changed my medication. I know that I shouldn't be losing weight but it is really difficult to get over the compulsion. If you are on the verge of become anorexic again, I think you need to consider how hard it was to recover from the anorexia before and whether or not you want to go through that again.
