I'm allergic to cats, and have cats, so I have a little tiny bit of information about this...
First, Siamese are often said to be hypoallergenic. I don't know, but I know I never knew I was allergic to cats when I had a Siamese. And I'm looking for a Siamese now.
For what it's worth, though, I am mostly immune to my own cats. Usually, every year or so when other allergens get overwhelming, I'll have a bit of a reaction to my cats. Then, cat baths usually reduce the problem until things settle down. And most cats can handle being bathed. They may not like it, but it's not generally a huge deal. They get over it in an hour or so, about the time they're fully dry.
I have found, and this is just me, that black cats, and black and white cats seem to be the worst for me. It may have something to do with most of the droolers I've met have been black and white, or solid black. Don't know -- I just know I've had more reactions to black and white and solid black cats. So, n of one, statistically irrelevant, but for whatever it's worth to you...
Are you allergic and looking for a cat? Or did this just strike your fancy? It's an interesting selling point...
