Hi everyone,
Here's my broken record sales pitch about CBT again:
Life changing books for me:
"Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy"
"The Feeling Good Handbook"Both by David Burns, MD.
Honestly, reading these books is not life changing, but actually doing the exercises very consistently was most definitely *the* turning point in my life. Deep inside, I am quite sure I would have committed suicide by now were it not for the information contained in these books(I do not exaggerate here, or take this lightly, I'm quite serious, I was REALLY a mess).
Incidentally, with more recent self-CBT, over the last 2 months I have felt better than I've ever felt in my life! I seem to be getting better over the months. CBT takes a long time, and diligence, but it works!
So I wouldn't look for life changing books, I doubt they exist. But doing the exercises in these books consistently and for an extended period of time is extremely helpful for me; the mainstay of my recovery. I'd credit CBT 80%, and Klonopin with the other 20%.
Best wishes!
Matt
