Hi! I lurk too but thought I'd be brave & post for the 3rd time in a week. The T I work for loves gifts, is touched when people think of him, and has no problem receiving them. I strongly suspect the one I personally work with (as a patient) would not want a gift though so I stick with cards for her.
So in my limited experience, it seems the bottom line is that it is very individual. If you want to give a gift you may want to avoid anything too expensive or of a personal nature (i.e. clothes).
Good Luck & Happy New Year!

> I've been a lurker here for awhile and I find it very helpful when reading people's conversations with regard to therapy, so thanks in advance. I'm wondering what people think of giving a gift for the holidays to your therapist. I've been with mine for 2 years and I feel like it would be a nice thing to do, but I don't want to go over boundaries... I give my hairstylist champagne every year just for my hair... I figured that my therapist deserves more considering she keeps my head together, not just my hair. Anyway, thanks.
