Teehehehe.
Isn't bugger a swear word worthy of asteriks? Perhaps its not naughty in the US?
Anyway.
Yes, the darker hair dyes are pretty bad for you. I went to this guest lecture back in 1999 once in health geography, and they found that the biggest correlation was between breast cancer and being overweight and dying one's hair. I remember it clearly coz one of my mates at the time was a touch traumatised by it coz she was overweight and dyed her hair!!!
And I've read loads more about it since, although I have read that also consumption of dairy products poses a very big risk in terms of breast cancer. There's all these correlations between Asian woman living in rural China have like zero risk of breast cancer, but once they move to an industraized nation, their chances shoot through the roof.
Like anything, I think its probably really complicated.
I think that
being overweight
not exercising
dying one's hair using those darker colours
not eating enought fruit and veg
being exposed to unnatural chemicals in deodorants, shampoos, cleaning products etc etc pose risks with regard to breast cancer
(of course, having one of those 'cancer' genes as well and taking artifical hormones such as BC pills and HRT).
as well as the usual smoking and drinking too muchare the major contributors to breast cancer!
Anyway.
Did you know that 90% of caucasian europeans have the enzyme that you need to digest milk but (if I remember rightly) most other ethic groups don't have it??
Anyway I'm rambing on and on
Meri
oh PS, I get my hair highlighted. The dye doesn't actually touch your scalp and the colours are always pretty light, so erm....thats my excuse anyway! And I'm far from being overweight, so....
my natural colour is a sort of dark blonde/light brown. So its pretty dull unless I get the said highlights! I have bluey green eyes as well, so I really need those pretend sun kissed streaks...
