Hello, this is my first time posting. I started reading other people's posts at the beginning of the week when I was ready to quit taking Vicodin. I had been taking a TON of it off and on for a few years but everyday since February. I was terrified to quit. But, Thanks to this, I was able to read what to expect and what to do to help. Here is what helped me: Lots of Vitamin C (I read somewhere it helps with the cravings), Hot Baths, Lots of Water, and Tapering! I was out of Vicodin (not why I quit, I just decided not to refill). I knew if I refilled, they would be gone in a few days. Instead, someone at work I knew had some Tylenol 3's. I know, those are bad too, but, since I didn't have a never-ending supply, I asked her for 3 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday, and 1 on Thursday. My own tapering system. I was still in a lot of pain for the first few days and would sweat through my clothes during the few hours of sleep I did get. But everyday seemed to get a little better. Now it's friday and I am drug free. I feel so good! I actually thought I felt pretty good yesterday, but today is really good! Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all for having the courage to post because you probably saved my life. Many many thanks. Oh, and I got some Ativan from my doctor to help with the anxiety I had about the withdrawl. I haven't told a single person that I have been going through this and now this is the first time I have written about it. I am really excited about my new sobriety. With the Ativan I got the other day, I'm even sleeping well now! Anyone reading this who is suffering, trust me, you can do it! I had zero support system just the desire to clean myself out and I did it!
