Your friend is an idiot. There would be no benefit whatsoever in snorting Xanax (or any other pharmaceutical benzodiazepine for that matter) over just dropping the pills. It will still take 'more or less' the same time to take effect and not give you any greater buzz other than sneezing. You'd be snorting mostly tablet fillers and binders anyway which can cause damage when inhaled.
