I've currently got scripts for both of these, my doc wants me to figure out which one works out best for my social anxiety....i still can't tell. anybody have past experiences between the two?

Ativan for me is not really a medication that opens you, or "motivates" you to talk. It does ease some tension and anxiety.
Serax? thats well i guess it could help with socil anxiety, its not common for social anxiety, its more for alcohol withdrawl. I guess you and him have worked something out over time.
I was Lorazepam 6mg, for severe panic, it didnt do well. It would make it a less panic, but still panic. But thats not what we are talking here.
I know Lorazepam and Clonazepam very well in there effects.
Clonazepam is a good antipanic and social anxiety med, 1.25-2mg will make you in the mood, "stimulus" to talk, not exactly alcohol wise. But it has its own atvantages.
I currently take Klonopin 5mg.
I have had to be on high doses of benzodiazepines becusae my mind i dont know, has to many receptors to shut off.
I have taken Serax, give it a try. Dont take them at high doses.

Serax isn't Serepax is it, ie oxazepam. If not ignore this. It is confusing (I took too much of it, of course), it takes an hour to work even when you chew it, and it's short acting. I looked up my Merck. It *is* oxazepam. And made by Wyeth. So when you chew it to make it work faster your teeth and tongue will be bright yellow. I haven't taken it for 30 years and I'm still annoyed about it.

PS Now that I think of it Ativan was too amnesic for me. But I probably overdid that one too. I ended up preferring bromazepam, Valium, Librium, and am slightly curious about Xanax

I dunno, maybe it was the packaging, in bottles of 100 then, maybe the nice name, maybe the green and black, was it, capsules, maybe the innocuous 10mg strength. It all added up to a rather cozy and respectable image. The sort of bottle that lives next to the spices in the kitchen. So those are the associations for me. Librium has less of a muscle relaxing effect but more of an anxiolytic effect, perhaps.

I've never tried Librium. I like Valium's muscle relaxant effect.

I have tried Xanax, that didnt seem to have any effect surprisingly enough. I was on an increidbly high dosage as well (3mg XR 3 times daily). I tried clonipin for only about 5 days, starting at a very low dose, noticed it made me very drowsy and didnt seem to affect my anxiety. Is that something where if I took it for longer it would begin to help more? I do not have an alcohol withdrawl problem or anything, most of my anxiety seems to be physical though, at times when off meds I actually have trouble smiling, my facial muscles tense up.
Suggestions?

If your anxiety is physical I'm surprised (from what I've heard) that Klonopin didn't help. I was wondering if what you had was agitaion rather than anxiety. Recently, with Parnate and SAMe I had agitation that was fairly unresposive to benzos. A similar but different feeling (trouble walking past people, forget about eye contact), some brain chemical thing. I know what you mean about the frozen face thing, well frozen everything I guess.
