I've been clean for 5 months now, out of rehab, and wondering what I am supposed to do in exchange for the life I used to lead of scoring and using all of the time. I mean we'd stay up all night on speed or coke; now I go to bed around 10pm. But, what to do with those in-between moments during the day. I'm not tempted to use anymore, but I sort of wander aimlessly around San Francisco until my next class (I figured now is a good time as any to finish up school).
I'd rather do something else than wander about. I'm looking for a job, but nothing has come up yet. So in the meanwhile, anyone have any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
thanx in advance

Volunteer in an field associated with what you are studying. It makes great resume material and it good for your soul.
Or volunteer doing something that just makes you feel good. (That can also go on your resume)
Maybe with kids, elderly, homeless, battered women, disabled, all sorts of agencies need help. And if working directly with people is not your bag, you could do office work for any agency, or deliveries for some, lots of things need doing.Volunteering helps other and helps you too.

Would you consider yourself a creative person?

Yes, very creative. I play music - rock guitar, write sci fi, edit video, invent, play with computers, etc. It's an ADD thing I believe. I haven't felt creatively motivated lately. Nothing comes to me when I sit down with my guitar or writing tablet. I'm just blank. Normally I can write songs (chord progressions really) with "no" effort. Writing is a bit more difficult, I have to wait for those moments I feel like doing it.My drummer is in jail for petty theft, I'm kinda depressed about that and the music is off for now.
Right now school is my saving grace. It's open 6 days a week 9am-8pm M-T, 9am-6pm F, 10am-4pm sat. Which leaves Sunday with nothing to do. I'm trying to make new sober friends, but I'm shy and an introvert by nature; and it's difficult.
Yesterday I bought one of those plastic model tanks you glue together, I was that bored.

HI
I've tried Yoga and tai chi, and it helped my depression, and it does take up plenty of time if that is the issue. It could definitely be a cleansing experience...it will help you get a fresh start and a new perpective on life.Another suggestion is appreciating art if you're currently unable to create your own. Take time to introduce yourself to new artists whether they be musician or painters, etc.
I wish you all the best.
