I'm sitting here reading the latest posts.

I'm now on 10.5 mgs. of Lex, and .25 mgs. of
Klonopin in the mornings. Reading a previous
post- part of the battle is the stupid thoughts
that seem to come from no where! Although, they
are from the depression/anxiety- the brain!

I have my hands full with 3 daughters/grand-daughter/husband, and a mom in whom ended up
back in the hospital again the other day. I'm
in charge of all of it! Lord knows what's going
to happen.

I feel more myself on the Klonopin. Although it
might be alittle strong this time around- it keeps
me from going up and down. In my situation, it
helps. Whether I'll get off of it in the future-
I honestly can't say. I was on it for 10 years
in the past. Now, I can tell whether I'm having
straight depression without the panic. The
"battle" doesn't seem to take me everywhere at one
time! If you know what I mean. As far as sleep
goes, just being on the Lex- I didn't wake up till
the afternoon it seems. I am a night person
anyway, but we can't always have our own way. If
we did- husbands, children, moms, etc..., would
come packaged in a jar or can! I'm just being
nasty!

Well, I'm hanging on by the Lords grace, and
enjoying the rays of hope that is sent my way.
Keep up those posts- they really help!

I WAS on 20 mgs of Lex and 100 of Wellbutrin SR, but the Wellbutrin was raising my blood pressure... I had ringing in my ears, etc. The sse goes away... it took almost 3 months for me, but I'm getting back to normal in that regards.

Hi. Sorry it has been a while since I answered. I am going through my own personal hell. I broke my leg and just put my cat to sleep yesterday. BUT, about you....my guess is that the medicine just wasn't right for you. It took a long time for it to work for me. I just hope it still holds up with the worst of times. How are you feeling now? Some people complained that it made them very lazy. Maybe that is what your haziness was.

In a way, these drugs are very scare cause they are so strong. If they work we are lucky.

Good luck. -dysfunk

I am a new user to Lexapro and this type of medication in general. I have mostly just taken Xanex for anxiety and am now in this for two weeks now. I had major side effects the first week (insomia, headaches, more anxiety, decreased appetite), but recently have experienced some very different side effects and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced the same. Second week side effects are increased appetite and inability to achieve an orgasm. Other than that I am feeling good, but don't like the sexual side effect...can anyone help, it has only been two weeks and I want to know if that will go away!!

I dont know what the lump was, I am assuming it is from anxiety because I was getting it before the lexapro and when I start an SSRI it seems to make me more anxious the first month or so. It did go away, but drove me crazy for the first month.

I have taken zoloft in the past, it caused the sexual side effect. It did go away with alot of my husbands help in about two months. Since I have been on lexapro, I had the sexual side effect and it went away within a month.

Well, I hope this isn't an unacceptable post but I do know that SSRIs and sexual side effects can be a real nuisance (to say the least) so I'm going to offer this up and hope I don't get "in trouble."

This is for the females in case it isn't already obvious . . . and it involves three important words: "Hitachi Magic Wand." Since you can even find information about it doing a search on Amazon I'm going to hope it's an acceptable - uh, suggestion/recommendation.

This appliance could pry an orgasm out of an oak tree.

Perhaps this topic has been covered here before, if so, so be it. It's a gadget whose merits bear repeating. Over and over and over again.

Every time I see the subject of sexual side effects on this board I think about posting this tip - but the words "It did go away with a lot of my husbands help in about two months" - inspired me to finally go ahead and bite the bullet.

As for how I found out about it . . .

I had recommended another type in the past, but then I read an article in Allure magazine about a writer who went to a sex therapist in New York in order to gather information for a story she was writing. This woman touts these things and apparently even throws one in with the cost of a session.

Additionally, I think this might be the one that was referenced one time by Samantha on "Sex in the City."

I don't know if it helps release serotonin but it does a bang-up job on endorphins.

Well, I contemplated that for several moments before I posted it - and even had my husband roll over from his side of the office to preview my post.

I have read several posts from folks discussing their, shall we say, frustrations from SSRI's (guys included). As an SSRI veteran I can not only relate, but sympathize in a heart-felt way.

Being a first-born "fixer" type I often have to restrain myself from extolling the virtues of various products/services, etc. that I have found to be useful in my own life.

Since I don't own stock in said company and wasn't being pornographic in my description I felt it was nothing more than a public service announcement.

I'm experimenting with magnesium right now, thanks to all the information on another thread, so I felt this might be a useful contribution.

Now, I'm feeling rather anal - like I should go back and find all the references that people have made regarding the sexual side effects of SSRI's - as an attempt to validate my post. BUT, I don't think that's healthy behavior (on my part), so I shall refrain.

I must say again that my post was made out of the pure and simple desire to pass along information to others that has been helpful to me. There's a list of products a foot long that I can't live without and I've usually found them through trial and error (and a lot of expense).

So, we shall see what happens.

I really don't think my post was lacking in civility. Actually, I thought it was not only civil, but civic-minded.

Cheers!

I have a question. I have been on Lexapro for 3 or 4 months now for anxiety. The anxiety problem is one I've had for about 3 years now. I am always tense and very stressed out. Teeth grinding can be regular at times. Well, the Lexapro has been working good for the most part (after the initial increased tension caused during the first week). However, these last few weeks, it does not seam to be working very well anymore. Does anyone know if it tends to have less of an effect after a while if you're body gets used to it?
Thanks,

I'm so glad to hear your sense of humor has returned. As you may remember, I've read nearly all your posts and watched your progress in fast forward one afternoon. I've been amazed at your results on Lexapro!

Of course, the "suggestion" I offerd up last night works for those who aren't on ADs and it would make a lovely addition to any Easter basket ;)

The "guy end" is uncharted territory for me. I am ecstatically married to a guy who has enough serotonin for at least two or three different area codes in the greater Los Angeles area so this has not been a bridge we've had to cross.

I have heard Bob Dole touting Viagra and I've often wondered how it would work for both sexes, especially those taking anti-depressants. Of course, it's hard to say . . .
