Not knowing your diagnosis, or symptoms, I can't say what your doc's intentions may be. I personally have taken trazodone for over 10 years, it does a great job of helping me get to sleep at night, and on low doses I don't have a hangover effect in the morning. I've never seen it help with my depression, but it certainly takes care of the insommnia that depression causes for me.
