I'm pretty sure it is an SSRI. It is compatible with lots of ADs. I took it to help me sleep while depressed and also to get some extra help while waiting for the Prozac to kick in (which never happened).

You could try a lower dose of remeron, 15mg, if you do not suffer from depression. 30mg works well for adjitated depression(noway a mood elevator), slilll puts me to sleep within an hour and sleep 6-8 hrs,and quells anxiety. Remeron has a potent histamine blocker "built into it" esp at low doses. high doses 45-60mg, it tends to block Norepinephirne Alpha 2 receptor site, causing more stimulation, libido, less sedation.
The only side effect is increased appetite due to the blockade of 5ht3 receptors, which help nausea. I never get stomach aches anymore, but let me tell you i could eat a pig. I also can tell "withdrawls" from remeron after 2 days. im sure not everyone feels these withdrawls, or plain old panic anxiety, insomina doom feelings coming right back 24/7, but for me, i suspect this med works very weel for me and my body "likes it" when it doesnt have it, it "withdrawls" Sorta like a drug, OH WAIT, remeron is a drug, BUt legal! oh boy.
